1. Leeman and Martines (2007) mention several factors that influence curriculum/program design (section From Area to Ethnic Studies) – Choose one that you think influenced the program/curriculum that you learned – On what ways did it have an impact?
2. This paper looks at how ideologies are presented in the textbook title, prefaces and possibly front and back book covers. Look at those elements from the textbook your language classroom used (You need to upload the preface on canvas!). Analyze them based on this paper’s criteria (targeted group, primary educational context, etc…). When was this textbook first published? Which edition do you have and when was this edition published? Does the preface show access, inclusion and identity? How? Direct quote the section that mentions these from your textbook preface. Do your analyses match the Leeman and Martinez (2007)'s analyses? Which period?
