Many leadership skills acquired are by direct contact with leaders in ones sphere of influence. Leaders who embody characteristics that are admired and respected are enviable; many try to attain those traits. Conversely, leaders who exhibit negativity, socially unacceptable traits or skills that contradict personal morals also provide an opportunity to mold personal leadership characteristics. This assignment will challenge you to explore both sides of this paradigm.
The two-fold assignment is to:
Identify one (1) public or nonprofit leader that is accessible to you and can be interviewed.
1. Based upon the interview, make an assessment about the leader’s leadership style.
2. Assess how the leader’s style aligns with the mission and vision of the organization.
3. Assess how the leader’s leadership style aligns with the Board of Trustees
4. What skills do they exhibit that you admire.
5. Do they exhibit skills or attitudes that you would not like to embody?
6. Are there skills that they are lacking or have that could be improved?
Develop a concise analysis of the leaders overall style and improvement recommendations.
