RUA: We Can But Dare We? – A healthcare provider ordered an increase in a patient’s IV insulin drip. You use an new app on your phone to help you calculate the pump setting. Even though you entered everything correctly, the calculation was wrong, and the patient got too much insulin. While the patient survived, they required three additional days in the hospital.
You can pick from several available endings in the instructions. The one ending that DOES NOT apply is #1 (social media exposure). Ending #4 would probably also be a stretch. Your best bet is building your paper around either endings #2 or #3.
Also, please remember this paper needs to be submitted through Turn It In, and any similarity rate over 10% is subject to academic review. High scores could be grounds for academic disciplinary action, even if a subsequent submission scores less. Unfortunately, this assignment is typically shared among friends and is often found online. Please dont be tempted to review these papers for reference, as doing so may impact your own writing and similarity score. A paper that is fully your own will typically fall well below the 10% score, so you dont have to stress about any triggered alerts.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Choose an ending to the scenario, and construct your paper based on those reflections.
Choose one of the following outcomes:
1. A HIPAA violation occurs, and client data is exposed to the media.
2. A medication error has harmed a client.
3. A technology downtime that impacts patient care occurs, and an error is made.
4. A ransomware attack has occurred, and the organization must contemplate paying the ransom or lose access to
patient data.
Follow these guidelines when completing this assignment. Speak with your faculty member if you have questions.
