Essay Title: Critically analyse the importance of strategic fit for manufacturing
organisations. Explain why strategic fit is difficult to achieve in practice?
2000 word essay.
Use academic sources to support your discussion. This MUST
include academic journal papers.
Above all, plagiarism will not be tolerated. In other words, whilst you are encouraged to discuss assignments
with staff and colleagues, the final write-up must be your own work. Therefore, the essay must
present your analysis, understanding, and conclusions. Moreover, you should reference all the sources of information that you use.
Your work must be submitted via the Turnitin box on the VITAL site under the assessment folder. Please ensure you submit it via the
August Resit Assignment link. There is no hardcopy submission for this
assignment.
Lateness Penalty: Five percentage points lost from the assessment
mark for each working day after the due date. However, the mark will not go below the pass mark for the assessment
(40%). Most importantly, work assessed at below 40% will not be penalised for late submission of up
to five working days. Late work will receive a mark of zero.
Other Penalties
• Up to -5% of total marks for poor referencing. In addition, this should be in the
Harvard style, details of which can be found in the ULMS Student Handbook.
Notes
In this section, please not that the essay should be a maximum of 2000 words. Firstly, it will demonstrate
the succinct (compact) writing skills required in writing executive summaries
in industry. Secondly, the essay should have page numbers inserted. Thirdly, the fairly small word-
count means that you should cut out all the waffle (waste) and deliver carefully
crafted words (value). Most importantly, it is a skill you must learn for business and
academia.
Critical Analysis
Most importantly, develop a critical analysis of the concepts you are examining and do not simply
describe the reading you are doing.
Marking Guidelines.
Follow the marking guidelines provided in the Management School Student
Handbook.
