: Families and Social Class
Actresses Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman were recently implicated in a scandal that involved paying thousands of dollars to ensure that their children were admitted into USC. While most people condemned the actresses for their behavior, some were sympathetic stating that this is something that any parent in that position would do for their children. Parents using their connections in order to ensure the success of their children is an example of social capital (This specific example is an illegal one).

Sociologist Pierre Bourdieu discussed the concept of social capital (see textbook). Explain what he meant by this. What are the three concepts of social capital as discussed in the film?
