Instructions
Choose ONE of the following questions and answer it in an essay of 5-10 paragraphs.
Your answer should be based on your own knowledge, values, beliefs and experiences, as well as making at least two references to the readings.
Be sure to follow the steps on how to take an essay exam
Select your question carefully;
Analyze the question and identify key directive terms;
Use the directive terms to set up an outline for your answer;
Generate material that you will use to fill in your outline;
Draft your essay—turn your outline into complete sentences and paragraphs;
Take a mental break to recharge yourself—rest your hand, your eyes, your mind;
Read your essay to (1) Make sure that you’ve answered the question completely and directly, and you’ve supported your assertions with specific information and examples; and (2) look for and correct grammatical, spelling and stylistic errors.
Write an Introductory paragraph with a thesis statement. The thesis statement Introduces your topic, Establishes your agenda and lays down your organizational plan. The thesis statement can be pulled from the question by turning the question into a statement. You can do this first, in the middle, or at the end of your writing—whatever works for you—but the important thing is that the intro paragraph and its thesis statement sets up the essay, and the essay that follows it matches.
