After beginning to learn about inclusive education and disability studies, what are your current beliefs about the definitions of disability and inclusive education in schools?
How does the least dangerous assumption/ the presumption of competence support what you believe about teaching students with disabilities in general education settings?
In particular, how would have the lives of the students in the film Certain Proof: A question of worth been different if the teachers believed in full inclusion and the philosophy of the least dangerous assumption/ presumption of competence (Donnellan)?
I believe that disability is a social construct, and that there is no one definition of disability. I also believe that inclusive education is important for all students, not just students with disabilities. In certain cultures, people with disabilities are seen as less capable and are often excluded from participating in mainstream society.
