Amanda, a 36-year-old, and her husband have been trying to conceive a second child. Their journey with infertility began when her spouse was diagnosed with testicular cancer two years ago, leading to a low sperm count. As a result, they were offered in vitro fertilization (IVF) to become pregnant. Amanda gave birth to a healthy child, now three years old, through a fresh embryo transfer.
Amanda is again seeking fertility care and has now undergone two unsuccessful frozen embryo transfers. As such, she is currently seeking further care and testing at a fertility clinic. Amanda's primary concern is infertility despite previous successful IVF treatment. She is emotionally distressed and anxious about the prospect of further fertility treatment, in relation to how this will impact her mental health, physical health and financial wellbeing. You are the nurse conducing her assessment at the clinic today.
