  1. Choose one mobility object, place or app, and with reference to relevant academic theories and examples critically discuss how it shapes our relations with self, place and others.
  2. Choosing either a place or a digital platform/app, critically discuss the extent to which contemporary orderings of tourism are reshaping the tourist experience and place meanings.
  3. Describe and explain the new geographies produced at the intersection of virtual and physical mobility.

 

Depending on the focus of the essay:

 

  1. Evaluate claims in the mobilities literature regarding the increasing importance and ubiquity of mobility.
  2. Recognise the ways in which changes in physical and virtual mobility produce, intersect and reshape place and culture.
  3. Appraise factors that influence tourist/ leisure travel decisions and experiences and assess their impacts.
  4. Analyse the ways in which mobility is represented and mobilized in different media (e.g. film, planning documents, tourism brochures)

Engage with methodological debates arising from understanding mobility as a meaningful object of study in its own right.
