With the aid of diagrams where relevant and taking into account the headings listed,
answer the following:
1. Indoor Air Quality related to COVID-19
COVID-19 can be transmitted through the air. Based on the lecture on indoor air
quality and relevant information sources, describe the evidence about the virus being
transmitted through the air and how this can be reduced. Refer to the contaminant
equation from lectures also.
2. Air Quality for Health
Explain how ambient air quality measurements can be used to provide health
messages for individuals who are sensitive to air pollution (at risk) and for the
general population. Compare the Irish EPA approach to the approach in at least two
other countries.
3. Odour Measurement and Dispersion Modelling
Compare and contrast methods for odour control at 1. Landfills; 2. Sewage treatment
plants, and; 3. Meat by-products rendering plants. Refer also to techniques for
measurement of air pollutant emissions (odour and odour indicator gases, e.g.
ammonia, H2S) and dispersion modelling studies (e.g. what models are used?).
