Expert answer

Securitization is when you take something, like a loan, and turn it into a product that can be traded. This makes it easier to sell, but it can also be risky because if something goes wrong with the product, it can have a big impact on the people who own it.

When you securitize something, you're turning it into a security, which is a type of investment. This means that instead of just being a loan, it's now an asset that can be sold to investors. This makes it easier to sell, but it can also be riskier because if something goes wrong with the product, it can have a big impact on the people who bought it.

Securitization has been used for things like mortgages, student loans, and credit card debt. It's a way to make these types of loans more accessible to people who might not otherwise be able to get them. But it also means that if something goes wrong with the loan, the investor could lose money.
