The Yemeni conflict has been ongoing for over five years, with no end in sight. Despite international efforts at mediation and negotiation, the violence has only escalated, claiming the lives of thousands of innocent civilians. Yemen is now one of the most dangerous places in the world, and its people are desperate for a way out of the conflict.

 

There have been several attempts at mediation and negotiation, but they have all ultimately failed. The most recent effort was led by the UN Special Envoy for Yemen, Martin Griffiths. He proposed a peace plan that would see a ceasefire followed by negotiations between the warring parties. However, the plan was rejected by the Houthi rebels, who insisted on a complete withdrawal of troops from Yemen before any talks could take place.

 

The conflict in Yemen is one of the most complex and intractable in the world, and it seems unlikely that any mediation or negotiation will be able to bring about a lasting peace. The only hope for the people of Yemen is that the warring parties can finally find a way to lay down their arms and put an end to this tragic conflict.
